A well-balanced diet, comprising adequate calories, proteins, fats, carbohydrates, minerals, electrolytes, and vitamins, is crucial for maintaining good health. Such a diet ensures that the body receives its daily nutritional requirements, thereby boosting immunity.
At MJ Hospital & Heart Institute, the Dietetics Department is dedicated to promoting sound nutritional practices and providing exceptional care to both patients and individuals. Staffed by a team of four expert dieticians, the department offers round-the-clock dietetic services tailored to patient diagnoses.
Our dieticians actively participate in patient care, continually monitoring and reporting on nutritional statuses while advising physicians and the medical team. They conduct thorough nutritional assessments, considering factors such as ideal body weight, weight history, relevant lab results, and anthropometric measurements. Diets are meticulously designed based on the latest nutritional science, and patients receive regular visits from our dieticians to ensure optimal dietary management.
Specialized diet counseling is available for various conditions including diabetes, cardiac disorders, cancer, migraine, kidney and liver diseases, pediatric nutrition, pregnancy and lactation, weight management, burn recovery, allergies, endocrine disorders, organ transplants, surgical recovery, and more. Depending on the patient’s condition, diets range from normal to soft, semi-solid, liquid, or clear liquid, all provided free of charge during hospitalization.
Beyond hospital walls, our department extends its services with free diet counseling at health camps and for economically disadvantaged individuals. We also prioritize community education, particularly targeting women and children.
